Self paced learning and project-based assessments

Participants are required to completely design and develop 3 assessment tools from scratch, each based on a Nationally Recognised unit of competency.

This means you will be:

  • Selecting a unit of competency on Training.gov.au
  • Analysing it to determine how you will assess it (e.g. a combination of observation, roleplay, written tasks, etc)
  • Drafting assessments including things like observation checklists, roleplay instructions, questions and marking guides
  • Reviewing and improving the draft assessments you wrote
  • Mapping the assessments back to the unit of competency to ensure everything is covered properly
  • Finalising the assessments so they are ready to use to assess real students

This process typically takes around 10 – 20 hours and you will be doing it three times as part of your assessments.

Therefore the time to complete the assessment tasks is typically around 60 – 80 hours.
