This skill set provides the skills, knowledge and competencies for people training under supervision within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, working primarily in classroom situations.

This unit is about preparing, delivering and reviewing presentations to an audience. It applies to those who may be expected to make presentations for a range of purposes, such as marketing, training and promotions.
Participants will demonstrate well developed communication skills in presenting a range of concepts and ideas.

Duration: up to 6 months to complete, however many participants complete this skill set in a matter of weeks, even over a few days if they are already experienced.

To complete the course you will be required to undertake a range of projects and practical tasks, observations, written activities and interviews. We’ll work with you to help you develop the knowledge and skills to be successful, as well as give you a broad toolkit of templates and examples to work from.

To ensure you’re a capable trainer, we need to observe you training people. If you’re doing the course online you’ll be able to use our e-learning app to easily create and send us videos. If you do one of our face-to-face workshops you may be able to complete parts of this in the group.
Regardless of how and where you do our course, you will be required to deliver a number of training sessions. The minimum requirement for this is a 20 minute session delivered to a group of people.
The training can be based on any vocational outcome of your choice. Typically people do the sessions based on their industry background. This will also include the creation of lesson plans, gathering feedback from your students and reflecting on your performance.
While the previous section is about training groups (typically in a class-room kind of setting) this part of the course is about facilitating learning with individuals on the job. You will identify a basic learning outcome for two people, create a plan to help them achieve that outcome, then facilitate the process of them achieving it. After that you’ll gather feedback from your learners and write a basic report. We’ll also observe you facilitating learning for parts of the process. If doing it online you can simply record short videos as you go, using our e-learning app.
You will be required to record a number of videos, or participate in online video calls. The number of videos may be reduced by doing parts of the course face-to-face. Our e-learning app allows you to do this quite easily.
We know, videos can sometimes feel a little ‘cringey’ and nerve-wracking but most people who want to grow and develop their skills as a trainer will find that it’s actually a highly valuable experience for developing skills. How can we assess your skills as a trainer, and help you become an amazing trainer if we cannot see you?
Our assessors are extremely discreet, professional and respectful – our feedback is never ever destructive or negative. You will be praised on the things you do well and given valuable advice on what you can try to improve.
Most people who are new to the world of Training and Assessment take 6 months.
There are many exceptions though. For example, we have had industry-experienced people already working within the VET sector finish it in a matter of weeks because they have some RPL as well as well as a range of experience to draw on.

For the most efficient pathway, 10+ hours per week is ideal. However if you want to put in just a couple of hours per week and ‘chip away’ at it over a few months, that’s okay too.

Your computer or laptop (this is just a rough guide) should be reasonably modern and you should have an up to date web browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. It will need to have a word-processing application such as Microsoft Word or access to Google Docs. Generally speaking if you can see and hear YouTube-style videos then you’ll be able to take full advantage of our resources.
