Accellier is the provider of choice for thousands of people and hundreds of organisations in Australia and around the world. Under our former name SAVE Training, we built a solid foundation on which Accellier now stands, embodying almost 10 years of service to Australia’s Tertiary and Vocational Education Sector. As a testament to this, since our inception in 2010 we have spent only a few thousand dollars on advertising. Our clients are almost entirely referred from our happy graduates and business customers.

Accellier is the trading name of SAVE Training Pty Ltd and is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 32395) that offers a range of nationally recognised courses in education and business Australia wide through our online and face to face courses.

Our mission is to enhance people’s value through excellence in service and learning outcomes.

Why simplify the Standards?

I have always wanted a simplified guide to the Standards, so I wrote one.

As an RTO, compliance with the Standards for RTOs is an ongoing commitment. I refer to the standards frequently when planning and running our institute, overcoming challenges, and pursuing new opportunities.

My go-to is usually ASQA’s user-guide to the Standards. It’s a great resource with tonnes of examples.

However, sometimes, I just want a quick reference. I just want to check what the standards require in simple terms and at-a-glance.

Halving the word-count

I set about creating my own quick reference guide to the standards. I almost halved the word-count from 4000+ words down to around 2100 words. I like brevity. If a meaning can be conveyed in a sharp 5-word sentence, I prefer that over the same in a waffly 15-word sentence.

To be fair, the Standards are a legislative instrument. As such, they are necessarily written in a specific legal way to be parsed and interpreted by professionals. In day-to-day reference though, I just want a quick reference. It’s also useful in developing other compliance management tools.

I have been careful not to omit anything important, however, please do not rely on this as a complete reference to the standards. This is for general information only and should not be relied on to comply with the Standards for RTOs 2015.

For compliance purposes, you should always refer to the Standards as published on the Federal Register of Legislation or the ASQA User Guide mentioned above.

Throughout the Standards, numerous references are made (presumably to avoid doubt) to third party arrangements. The basic gist is that anything you get a third-party to do on your behalf (including marketing, student recruitment, training, assessment, admin etc.) must also comply with the Standards. It’s completely and utterly the responsibility of the RTO to make sure third parties comply with the Standards. To bring clarity I have removed some references to this.
