For almost 10 years, the Precision Consultancy website (precisionconsultancy.com.au) served up a huge range of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Assessment Tools for Language, Literacy and Numeracy specialists to use.
People completing their TAE studies often referred to these tools or completed versions for learning purposes in their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment courses.
In early 2023 the Precision Consultancy website stopped working which meant that people were unable to access these assessment tools.
This collection of assessment tasks can be used in the workplace to measure an individual’s language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills. The tasks are aligned with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), which is a national framework for identifying LLN skills in different contexts. The tasks have been validated professionals and experienced assessors.
These assessment tasks should be used by experienced assessors who are knowledgeable about the ACSF. Workplace trainers who are not experienced LLN practitioners may use the tasks, but they should seek advice from experienced practitioners.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine if an individual requires LLN support throughout a training program or workplace tasks. Identified gaps can be addressed through bridging courses or specialist LLN practitioner support.
The tasks cover the five skills of Learning, Reading, Writing, Oral communication and Numeracy, at pre-level 1 through to level 4 and include instructions for the assessor, a summary of the ACSF skills covered, notes about content coverage and contextualization, and a mapping of the ACSF skill indicator and domains of communication covered in the task.
