About

Accellier is the provider of choice for thousands of people and hundreds of organisations in Australia and around the world. Under our former name SAVE Training, we built a solid foundation on which Accellier now stands, embodying almost 10 years of service to Australia’s Tertiary and Vocational Education Sector. As a testament to this, since our inception in 2010 we have spent only a few thousand dollars on advertising. Our clients are almost entirely referred from our happy graduates and business customers.

Accellier is the trading name of SAVE Training Pty Ltd and is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 32395) that offers a range of nationally recognised courses in education and business Australia wide through our online and face to face courses.

Our mission is to enhance people’s value through excellence in service and learning outcomes.

Webinar Recording

In this session, EdTech expert Kerri Buttery (founder of VETNexus and Digital Literacy License) joins Paul Pellier for a deep dive into the critical role of digital literacy within RTOs and Vocational Education and Training (VET), with reference of course to the revised RTO Standards.

With a specific focus on Standard 2.2, Kerri explains why simple pre-enrollment checks (e.g. a student’s ability to complete an online application) are no longer sufficient evidence of digital capability.

The discussion highlights the compliance gap many RTOs face and emphasises the necessity of implementing robust procedures to review a prospective student’s digital suitability prior to enrollment.

Session Overview

In the session, Kerri breaks down the vital distinction between “digital skills” (technical competence like using specific software) and true “digital literacy” (critical thinking, adaptive problem-solving, and safety).

The session guides viewers through relevant frameworks, specifically the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp) and the Digital Literacy Skills Framework (DLSF), offering actionable advice on how to analyse training products to uncover “hidden” digital requirements.

Kerri details how factors such as delivery mode, the RTO’s LMS, and industry expectations must influence the entry-level benchmarks set for learners.

RTOs can ensure higher student success rates and prevent trainers from being forced into the role of “IT support” by identifying a learner’s digital starting point.

Our session concluded with practical steps for aligning digital literacy requirements with units of competency to ensure both compliance and high-quality training outcomes.

Session Resources & Frameworks

  • Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp – via DEWR) The European framework recommended as the primary reference for defining digital literacy standards.
  • Digital Literacy Skills Framework (DLSF) The Australian framework designed to align with the ACSF. Note: As discussed in the session, this framework is currently marked as “draft” and is primarily required for SEE (Skills for Education and Employment) providers. DEWR has clarified that the Australian Government recognises DigComp as preferred guides for digital skills and training activities.
  • Digital Literacy Licence Kerri Buttery’s platform offering tools for digital literacy assessment and micro-credentialing.
  • VETNexus Kerri Buttery’s consultancy service specialising in RTO compliance, eLearning solutions, and digital capability.
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) The international standard mentioned for ensuring digital content is accessible to people with disabilities, a key component of digital literacy and compliance.
