AI for Trainers and Assessors

When: 11 June 2026, 12:00 pm NSW time (60 minutes)

Cost: Free Book Now

Join our special guest Bianca Raby in this special 1-hour session on using AI effectively and guiding learners to use it responsibly.

Many AI training sessions focus on introducing tools and basic functionality.

This workshop takes a different approach by helping participants develop a deeper understanding of how to work with AI in a thoughtful and informed way.

The session focuses on building the skills needed to engage critically with AI, rather than relying on it at face value.

While AI can be highly useful, it also presents risks when its outputs are accepted without question.

This workshop emphasises the importance of developing professional judgement when using AI, ensuring that it is applied in a way that supports learning, rather than replacing it.

Topics

  • What AI actually is (and why most people misunderstand it)
  • How to prompt properly to get useful, structured outputs
  • Why AI responses can sound right and still be wrong
  • How to evaluate and critique AI output like a professional
  • How students are already using AI (whether you like it or not)
  • How to guide students to use AI without replacing their thinking

Takeaways

  • A clear understanding of how AI systems actually work
  • Practical techniques to get better results from AI immediately
  • Confidence to challenge and refine AI outputs
  • Language to teach students how to use AI responsibly
  • Use cases to save time in your own role

Bianca Raby from OppidaBianca Raby is a career educator, online learning designer, CEO of Oppida and thought leader in AI literacy. Her approach centres on building judgement, not just capability.

About our VET PD Program

The Standards for RTOs suggest that trainers at Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or TAFE should engage in regular professional development in vocational training and learning.

the RTO’s training and assessment is delivered only by persons who have […] current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment. The Standards for RTOs

Like renewing annual insurance or a visit to the dentist, VET professional development is one of those things that trainers often put off. And no wonder, some of it is dreadfully dull and provides little in the way of usable strategies trainers can apply in their practice.

Get up to date with your VET PD the Accellier way

Strangely, most PD opportunities are provided by non-RTOs. We think RTOs need to demonstrate leadership in professional development. Accellier, a leading TAE provider, is extremely well resourced with an incredible team of skilled professionals who are keen to share their latest research, practices and findings from experiments with you.
