Developing Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS)

Our recent professional development session on Developing Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS) for Registered Training Organisations (RTO) drew a record number of attendees. And it’s no surprise as the TAS is sometimes a source of confusion and challenge for RTOs.

In the session we aimed to uncover some of the mysteries of the Training and Assessment Strategy.

Typically the Training and Assessment Strategy document is used by RTOs to:

• Gain registration as an RTO
• Add courses to their scope of registration
• Demonstrate compliance during audit or performance assessment by the regulator e.g. Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)
• Demonstrate to students, employers, industry, trainers, assessors and other stakeholders, how a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course is delivered and assessed.

In our session we explored:

• The compliance requirements of a TAS
• The essential components of a TAS
• Some strategies for developing a TAS
• We offered a free template and links to other templates and resources to assist in developing a TAS
