The VET Practitioner Capability Framework

In 2011 Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) developed a Capability Framework for VET practitioners.

It came about as a result of the Productivity Commission report on the Vocational Education and Training Workforce, IBSA’s Environmental Scan, and the work they had done on the then TAE10 Training Package. The materials were developed by IBSA in association with the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIICCSRTE).

It was designed to assist the professional development decisions of VET practitioners by enabling them to self assess their strengths and development needs against the Capability Framework, using a set of tools that were developed.

What is a Capability Framework?

They describe the skills and attributes that people demonstrate if they are doing quality work. They are broad descriptions, against which more specific skills can be mapped. They cover a range of job roles and contexts.
